In Black In White

I received In Black In White as an ARC (advance reader's copy) book through Reading Deals. The gifting did not determine the review/rating, which reflects my honest opinion.
I went back and forth on rating this one. I enjoyed the story, the characters, and the author's writing style. But I was mentally exhausted with all the twists and reveals. After awhile, I simple wanted the book to be over-- luckily, I was already at the 90 percent point, so in truth, the end wasn't dragged out as much as it could have been. Most of the time, I found Alicia's internal dialogue annoying, which I believe was the author's intent. Alicia's need to translate items from UK English to American felt as if the author was dummying-down to his/her suspected reading audience- many readers could have figured out most of the slang, especially in context. Unfortunately, the author's intent doesn't make Alicia any easier for me to read, especially as I enjoy dialogue-driven stories. There were also some things I found irrelevant to the plot, but as this is a series, maybe the writer has plans to expand on some loose threads. A good read and worth the reader's time, but be prepared to grit your teeth through some of Alicia's craziness... it will be worth it to get to the meat of an excellent plot.

Now she is to observe the FBI, but she won't just observe, she will aid them. When she finds out she's been "shut out" of the investigations, all hell breaks loose from this spit fire 5 foot nothing woman! Do Alicia and her UK partner Murphy find the missing link that ties all these murders together and the reasoning why? Read the book to find out. I received a copy of this book for an honest opinion.

Review of IN Black, In White

I received this book free in exchange for an honest review. This book was enjoyable with the main character that was appealing. The plot was about a British detective helping the FBI catch a serial killer. I have to admit there were several twists that were unexpected and I didn't see them coming. I would recommend this book to any mystery buffs out there, and look forward to the next book in this series!
